Noteless You talk.
It builds.

An AI notes app that grew from a smart notepad into an assistant that brainstorms with you and writes the notes itself.

What it does

Chat on the left. The note on the right writes itself.

Let’s work on the go-to-market strategy. Developer communities first, then enterprise.

Writing that down. I’ll structure it as a phased approach.

Created Strategy/Go-to-Market.md

Phase 1 targets developer communities, Phase 2 moves to enterprise. Which communities should we start with?

Flutter first, since that’s our own stack. Then React and Swift.

Updating the note with these specifics.

Done. Target communities are in Phase 1. Nothing else in the note changed.

Target communities

Flutter / Dart: our own stack, highest credibility

React: the largest frontend community

Swift / iOS: quality-conscious developers

Phase 2 · Enterprise

Lean on the case studies from Phase 1.

You brainstorm in the chat. The assistant creates notes, organises them into folders, and edits them as the conversation moves. You never copy anything across.

The key decision

Patch the line. Don’t rewrite the note.

This was the call I cared about most. The assistant edits notes through small, precise tools instead of rewriting whole documents. To change one line, it patches that line. That keeps it fast, and it keeps the bill small.

Two versions

From a smart notepad to an assistant that writes.

Four phones running Noteless v1: rewrite options, a selected passage, the assistant chat and usage

v12024 · Android

A smart notepad.

  • A ChatGPT-powered assistant right next to your notes.
  • Magic rewrite: rephrase, expand or summarise a selection, or give it your own instruction.
  • Re-organise a whole note with one instruction.
  • Image-to-text and speech-to-text. Dictation lands right where your cursor is.
  • Read-aloud that runs on the phone, in real time.

Built in Godot, and live on Google Play.

v22026 · rebuilt in Flutter

An assistant that writes the notes.

  • Chat with an assistant while it writes and edits your notes for you.
  • Bring your own API key, with Anthropic, OpenAI and Kimi supported.
  • Notes in a project tree, stored locally in SQLite.
  • Token and cost tracking, so you always know what you’re spending.

The warm amber is on purpose: notes should feel like paper, not a dashboard.

Bring your own key

Your key. Your bill. Every token counted.

Noteless runs on your own API key. You pay the provider directly, and every request is logged with its input and output tokens and an estimated cost, by chat, project and provider.

How I built it

One contract for every model. Strict tools for every edit.

For v2 I wrote the spec and the design system first, then had AI write the Flutter code against them. I made the calls. It did the typing.

  1. 01

    One provider contract

Anthropic, OpenAI and OpenAI-compatible providers like Kimi all plug into the same interface. Switching models never touches your notes.

  2. 02

    Tools, not free text

The assistant can only change notes through a fixed set of tools with strict inputs. It asks before anything destructive.

  3. 03

    Local first

Projects, notes and chats live in SQLite on the device. API keys sit in the platform’s secure storage.

  4. 04

    Checked on every screen size

Golden tests cover the main screens in light and dark, on phone, tablet and desktop layouts.
